art block

The period when I was working on the magazine illustration, I was really in the zone. I was drawing non-stop the entire day, alternating between the illustration and my own fanart on the side. But when I finally finished the illustration, I just crashed as;dlfajsdf. (´;ω;`)

I had an art block, which was followed by a fever and throbbing headaches for the next three days, and no thanks to my curiosity I started coding a website to host my TCG collective to counter my art block - which kinda intensified my headaches, HAHA. CSS and PHP codes sure as hell work superbly as medication counterreactives. But I successfully turned this into this; I'm pretty proud of it! I think the graphics turned out really well too. (。✧‿✧。)

B-but ehhem! That's all well and peachy but... this post is to remind myself to start drawing by tomorrow! I've been doing some observational drawings for my portfolio quite half-heartedly because I just couldn't gather the strength in my fingers -- but this will change tomorrow. YES. A;SDLKFASDLF /slaps sense into self

p.s. I also created an artlog (erstsince) pre-block and will be posting random processes and sketches there, because I simply can't get used to posting on tumblr. orz so if it interests you, please do follow and support me there! (*≧▽≦)

wow! that came out nice! I was wondering, since I saw it -- was the css hard? Is it too much work compared to lj? Or inserting your cards? I think i'll stay hosted here because it's easier to update.

also, i was bored yesterday too and made an lj layout layout like you X] i turned this into this. i'm planning to give it to arisa as a present, but if she doesn't like it, I can just turn it into a more personalize layout and put it on my graphics site for anyone to take.

I will be watching the commm ;3 Tumblr is sssuuuuuch a pain!

thank you, i'm so glad you think so! your fluency in css seems pretty good too, so i don't think you'll have problems with it! i think the main difficulty is working around with php codes and knowing how they work - they gave me a big headache cause i had absolutely no idea how to create pages. orz as for updating cards, there're things are trade managers too, and they're really easy to use once you set them up! but tbh if my lj post could contain my cards i would choose to stay here too, hehe.
though, if you ever change your mind, feel free to ask me for help! i had to scour the webs for help so many times because even the tutorials confulzzled me. orz

WOW SHERA!! that's really adorable!! i really hope she uses it because i would love to see comm pages with these 8'D you're also so very nice! ♥ /squishes you

thank you bb!! ikr ; A ; lately i find myself using less and less, even for personal reasons orz i wonder why D: D:
eclat: workingeclats_de_voix on February 13th, 2012 10:08 pm (UTC)
What do you mean your lj couldn't contain all your cards? Does that mean I might have to move too?

If this happens, will you make the get the site for me and skin it for me q_q If I ever can't fit all my cards at lj.

I HOPE SHE LIKES IT TOO. It's awkward when you make a layout. Because you want it to be perfect and you designed it, but you don't know how others will see it.

And it's because tumblr is cold. It's like art without empathy. You just sit there and watch it pass by like an ant.
b e l ♛: smile / it's been a long nightciette on February 13th, 2012 10:59 pm (UTC)
hmm that's a possibility! lj has a character limit, so if you hoard lots of future cards like me (and never get them mastered sobs) then that's a possibility! when that possibility comes, you can either like many, 1. create an external site in dreamwidth (some people just copy and paste the html there because the format is so similar) but it just so happened that my particular layout screwed up asd;lfjasdf. if you're ocd like me, then 2. creating the site is the new option! o/

sure thing bb! i don't mind! i'll direct you to the appropriate sites to sign up and i'll help you do the php bit! i hope you don't mind using a premade layout though (i can give you more links to other sites' too)! they're all quite pretty and i told myself i'm never coding another one from a template because it's too painful. ; A ;

yup exactly!! but if they do like it it's always a pleasant surprise!! ♥ when do you intend to give it to her? *_*

un un, i'm with you there. i feel like it's a lot harder to socialise there too! i would always love to take the opportunity to talk to people about my art if possible, but tumblr is mostly a touch and go sorta thing. D: for many other things too, like fandom! i guess it's only nice if you're satisfied with reposting pretty pictures like i go there to burn stress once in a while. D:
eclateclats_de_voix on February 14th, 2012 07:14 pm (UTC)
You hit the character limit? But I have more cards than you and I still have more characters. I don't think you hit the character limit until maybe about 500 cards? But by then, though, you would have most off and away in mastered piles yeah?

I don't want to hoard lots of future cards because then it makes it harder to trade. and yeah, then to master. I like to collect the card that build up in my trade pile because I don't mind mastering unpopular decks. I love everything about reborn and pineapple is the only deck I'm swimming against the current to collect. LOL so many people are puuuuutttingg it innn there fuuuutuuure deck <_< =_= bel... ♥ As for the skin, I gave it to her already, but she hasn't gotten back to me. I wrote about it in the suggestions thread from a ways back. Maybe she set it so that it doesn't notify her or something. I think the mods do that to keep their inboxes from being spammed by us lolol.

yup!! i think it might be cause of my layout too! i think the character limit includes html coding, and my table's coding seemed to involve more of that! i think if your table seems less html heavy so it should definitely hang in there for a longer time! it helps that your future deck isn't too big too! i tend to hoard cards for decks i don't mind in my future deck until i coincidentally accumulate around 10 (oh god hahaha no wonder my deck is huge) and then i transfer it to my collecting deck X'D
yes i realised you do collect lots of unconventional decks! i think that's great too o/ it definitely helps to collect decks people prioritise less in :3 faster masteries!

sheeeraaaaa♥ i think suggestions go directly to a reborntcg email, maybe they haven't check it in a while o A o (they took a while to get back to me when i asked about trading badges too!) hopefully she gives a favourable response soon *_*

I try not to collect to much because its strategy. I guess I play more for business, while you clutch everything.. gawd.

Just sayin' but if you were mooooore like me ;] you'd collect them in your trade pile -- which just means that you like them but you'd rather trade them for card decks you have more of. That's how I see it, and there's only enough resources out to only collect a certain amount of decks. You'll have more luck with trade, etc, if your less sentimental if you get me.

N-E-ways ugh. I have a wait then B| But I think she'll get it when Arisa and Abby update on sunday.

i think it's astounding that you're so versatile as an artist! in every way. you know how to take both the spotlight and the backseat when the situation calls for it. what makes editors and writers like me happy is that i just need to brief you once and you give me the EXACT thing i want PLUS you exceed my expectations :')

yes, yes, i do remember. it was so cute hehe. this is another reason why we'd do so well collaborating together LOL. except i hate designing things so much i just.... no. web design. NO.

we should think of something to do together! it sounds like it'll be a really great and fun project hehe. lol i felt more nauseated working with flash... i got confused over the layers and the action scripts and i-it was just so overwhelming sometimes it would feel like my brain overheated and shortcircuited lol.

LOL. oh man, are the art courses you're looking at in university software-heavy? in my course, we had three graphic and web design modules over two semesters (two in year one and one in year two). we were pretty much thrown into crash courses for photoshop, illustrator, flash, dreamweaver and fireworks and then they were like "OH HAI NOW YOU HAVE TO PRODUCE A FULL DESIGN/WEBSITE ON YOUR OWN FOR YOUR FINAL PROJECT. *GIGGLE* FUN ISN'T IT? yup yup, that's true!! just curious, what are you uni choices right now? o: are you still intending to go into journalism? i heard from sherri that journalism is something you learn on the job and that it's better to study something you like like literature ' A ' (she has probably already told you this) just curious on your thoughts on this! your words motivate me a lot more than you think, bb :"> ♥ ♥!!

patricia: clenchedclenchedsoul on February 28th, 2012 01:15 pm (UTC)
yup, she's right — journalism is the more practical choice, but it's always something i can learn on the job. i wanted to take it as a degree at first because it's a practical one but... what if i find out i don't wanna work in journalism forever? where can i branch out to after that? literature is something i definitely want to keep exploring at the academic level, but my mom was saying that journalism would be more useful since it's a practical application of literature. do you get what i mean? o: i mean, most lit grads end up in either media or teaching anyway haha. but if i jump straight to journalism, when else am i going to give my last shot at my true academic passion?

right now, i'm looking at an australian education because
1) with the US economy these days... it's an impractical choice. i'd be in debt before i even get my first job (school fees are monstrous too)
2) local university lit programmes suck balls
3) australian unis are cheaper and
4) i'll get my degree in 2 years instead of 3 or 4 since australia is very familiar with the polytechnic curriculum

right now i'm looking at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Australian National University

Trust me, I was. I remember on my first trip alone and omg, I was freaking afraid. I sat at the airport and was like: You have two choices. You take the plane and fly to Indonesia or you are not taking the flight and all your money is gone. I decided for flying to Indonesia and I had two great weeks.

Hm, I like travelling alone because I don’t have to take care of others. I like it to be alone and I am hard to handle, so sometimes I can be a real burden to others. And I would feel the whole time guilty and thinking: Is my behaviour alright? Am I getting on her nerves? I would think way too much about the other person instead of myself. Like, I have to go with her to all the places she wanna see and so on.
I know I sound extremely selfish but in my past I always acted like that. So, travelling alone helps me to learn making my own decisions and not feeling guilty about it.
Every time I travel alone to Asia it is something like a learning process :)

Really? *laughs*
I know that from my friends, which live and work/go to school in Singapore. When I talked to them what I wanted to see and visit they were always like … really? Didn’t visit this place XD
